You don’t need to wait for someone else to release you from the prison of victimhood. You have that power in yourself that can help you to stop feeling like a victim and free yourself from your mental prison.

There’s a point in everyone’s life when we have to do things without will. In that situation, we felt betrayed and humiliated.

As a result, many people start thinking of themselves as a victim. Some people are excellent at self-pity and cope with their pain and guilt.

But on the other hand, some people start viewing themselves as victims. The thing eventually kills peace of mind and drops self-confidence.

As a result, they begin to avoid interaction with people. If you feel the same, here are seven ways to stop feeling like a victim.

The victim doesn’t only mean to be a sufferer of the accident, physical abuse, and pain. It’s all about a person who believes that someone or something is controlling their life. They think of themselves as helpless and see their life as impossible circumstances.

Sometimes, they feel overwhelmed and compelled to do the stuff without willpower. They may raise an issue in doing the task but still think there is no alternative to the task. This seems like the entire world is against them.

A person who thinks of themselves as victim always feel burdened and dependent on others. They always blame themselves for everything happening around them.

1. Take Your Responsibilities

Take ownership of your life and the emotions, ideas, and responses you like to encounter to reclaim your power.

Recognize that whining, being unhappy, and blaming others won’t make your troubles disappear. Instead, consider what you’ll do individually and do it.

 

2. Let The Past Pain Vanish

You must let go of the hurt from all those previous events buried deep inside if you want to go over your victim mindset.

Negative emotions like fear, guilt, hate, rage, and personality need to be let go of since they keep you captive and reinforce your identification as a victim.

If someone has injured you, forgive them. But, as I’ve stated in other places, forgiving someone does not entail condoning their behavior.

The act of getting rid of unpleasant emotions is entirely internal. You won’t be free until you ignore it.

 

3. Improve Your Vocabulary

Change the vocabulary that always prevents you from saying what you want or make you feel no less than a victim. For instance: choose “I will do it” or “I hope” instead of “should” or “choose to.”

Let’s start saying like this, there’s no second way to think and do, I know this is the way, and I will do it. Stop saying I can’t say there is a way, and I will try to find the one.

 

4. You Have a Choice

At some point, we are always stuck in a situation where we don’t know how to react. Keep in mind that we have choices, and its on us to choose the right pathway.

 

5. Don’t Say Yes All The Time

People who have a victim mentality always say yes instead of no. Unfortunately, this left them in hurdles, so instead of agreeing on all the things, start saying no to that task which you cannot do.

 

6. Take Toddler’s Steps to Get Out of Comfort Zone

You may start by taking just one tiny step outside of your bubble to transform from a victim to a robust and self-person. Remember that the ground is yours, and it’s on how you set the platform and reach your goals.

 

7. Change Your Behavior/Attitude

Focus on how much you have now and your strengths instead of what you lack or what leaves you feeling mistreated. Keep a gratitude journal where you may write down all the blessings in your life.
