How Self Introspection Can Help You in Growing Up?
We search for happiness, wisdom, answers outside. Do they all are outside? Aren’t they within us already? Then why are we so confused? Where is the problem? Isn’t the real journey of life within? Do we have a fear of exploring ourselves? Are we afraid of reality? Introspection is the first step towards wisdom which is the ultimate aim of life.
“If You want to connect the dots, look inside.”
After getting passed from college and having the job is the best thing I have wanted in my life. But when we get matured, we are supposed to have decisions of our own and these decisions may affect others. Various times at such situations I ended up with a blank. And the reason the latter I found out is I was unaware of myself. Here sharing my views on how self-introspection helped me in growing up.
I want to start with a famous quote
“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” ― C.G. Jung
Here are some simples steps which will help you to look within yourselves:
1. We are not experts.
We are not experts in life. If I talk about the reality we are not even experts in our own field. We may call someone an expert but in reality, he/she too works for improvement. And this life is a never-ending book, we can’t be experts about it. Adopt the change, and improve yourself can only be survival. Every moment is learning if you wish to.
2. Feedback and improvement are the keys.
When we start any project, don’t we take feedback from time to time? And accordingly change strategies, make plans and activities. It’s true we all do. Then how can you take this life so lightly, its worth than any project? You can’t measure its importance or value. Why we just keep moving with the flow? Shouldn’t we pause and have feedback from ourselves. With the feedback, we can have areas of improvement. And we must act for improvement.
3. Find the ultimate aim of your life.
Does money the only aim of this life? Are you going to take it with you after your death? If no, then what is it that can hold you up to death. Its the Happiness, Good Memories, Wisdom. This is the ultimate aim of life. For the money, we are working day and night.
Those who say money can buy all these. They are the biggest fools. They can lie to themselves by saying so. They can have materialistic happiness with money. But that’s not going to be with them for the whole life. That will fade up one day.
4. Take a Deep Breathe.
Stop running. Stop being so hard to you. Life is not a race. It’s not about winning or losing. It’s only about self-satisfaction, improvement, happiness. So pause for a moment. Look back at you. Look at what have you accomplished. Are you being good till now? Are you doing good in life? Its what we call Introspection.
We know others good, but when it asked about ourselves do we really know ourselves. The answer is big No. Start introspecting yourself. And remember its not like investigating agency that you start torturing yourself. It’s about knowing yourself.
5. Nothing is impossible.
When we talk about knowing ourselves, it’s not that simple, but I must say it’s not impossible. Yet it needs a lot of effort. It needs a lot of practice. You can’t get all the answers in just one day. You must keep practicing. When you start all this there will be a lot of resistance.
There will be a fight between your conscious and unconscious mind. Your conscious mind will resist it. You have to wake up your unconscious mind which is sleeping somewhere. As I already told you, its not a one day practice. Keep practicing. All barriers are within the mind there is nothing we can’t accomplish.
6. Make Some Time For Yourself.
We all say I am busy. Busy in what, and what kind of busy are you if you can’t make time for yourself. Stop lying to yourself, no one is busy here. We can always make time for what we want. Its famous line It’s all about priorities. It means you don’t take yourself on that priority list. You can start with simple steps:
Start by giving 5 minutes to yourself. Start talking to yourself. It may sound crazy to you, but trust me just do it. Once you start talking to yourself, I am telling you, you are going to enjoy it and soon those 5 minutes will turn to hours and you will not bother that. You will find your best friend with you. And you know the beautiful thing is you are living the most precious time with yourself.
Here is the list of self-care activities to start with.
7. Don’t be hard to yourself
Life is not a burden. Be soft to you and for others too. Have a smile on your face, your smile can make someone’s day. Start knowing yourself. You can start by asking simple questions to yourself. When you will start getting answers, you can go to deep ones. Like – What are my values. What is my role in this world? What is the real meaning of life? Why we are so much occupied when one day it’s going to end? Note down the answers you get without any judgment.
Start writing your daily experiences in your journal. Start discussing them with yourself. Keep repeating.
All the answers are within us. The whole world is within us. The tragedy is we keep searching for things outside, everything is within us. We should start exploring within ourselves.
